ANYTHING YOU CAN DO……… EDWIN LANGDALE BREAKING THE 45 POINTS BARRIER !

Results for Tuesday 27th May 2008

Just three (3) Goujonaires appeared on the first tee at 8:15 to witness yet another first in the annals of Goujonshire……… read on…………………..

Over the last six weeks we have watched Edwin Langdale’s Goujon handicap rise from a Low of 12 to finally come to rest at 20 as his golf progressed from bad to dire! (relatively speaking).  Somewhat unfairly, someone even published his scorecard commemorating the day he achieved eight blobs.  Then just four days ago (see last report) we reported that John Sidey had at last broken the 40-point barrier with a round of 41.

So the scene is set; John Sidey in what appeared to be the beginning of a purple patch. And Edwin Langdale going through what may yet prove to be the worst period of his illustrious golfing career.

Finally me; a mere bystander who was to last only four holes before being pulled off to make up the numbers in the Stag’s match against Windmill Village GC, so then there were two…….

And the outcome………………?  Edwin Langdale returns a record 47 points (25 & 22), while John Sidey comes in with probably one of his worst ever scores of 18 (13 & 5).  It’s a strange game.

Well done Edwin, it’s good to see you heading back where you belong………..?

REMEMBER THE DAYS WHEN PEOPLE SCORED 40+ …………?

Results for Tuesday 13th May 2008

Don Beere had a great win with 39 points (18 & 21), more than enough to clinch both Front and Back nines.

For the record, it’s now been two months since anyone exceeded 40 points when playing in a Goujon group game, really pathetic!  Jim Saxton was the last to break the 40 barrier with 41 points on 14th March.

Scores were:

Don Beere –39,  Jim McGivern -35,  Edwin Langdale -32,  Derek Partridge -32,  Tom Wilding –32,  Don Hounslow -31,  Tony Pratt -30,  Vic Layton –29,  John Williams –29,  Dick Turpin –24,  Jim Saxton –20

JIM BACK IN FORM

Results for Tuesday 29th April 2008

Jim McGivern headed the field of 13 Goujonaires in the Stag’s Stableford with 37 points (18 & 19) also sharing the front nine with John Newbury.  Wilf Feely bagged the back nine with 21 points.

Having embarrassed Edwin by posting his card in the ‘News’ section last week where he managed to post seven (yes 7!!) blobs, I thought I would make amends by posting my own from today which contains 5 blobs. Unfortunately as it was an ‘official’ competition my card had to go into the post box so you can’t see it.  It’s only fair that I remove Edwin’s card………………….soon…….

Scores were:

Jim McGivern -37,  Edwin Langdale -34,  Derek Partridge -33,  Wilf Feely -32,  John Newbury -32,  John Woodward -32,  John Sidey -31,  John Williams -29,  Jim Saxton -28,  Don Hounslow -25,  Ces Dowson -25,  Tony Pratt -24,  Dick Turpin -21

NICE DAY - BUT WHERE WAS EVERYONE

Results for Friday 25th April 2008

Just eight Goujonaires appeared on the first tee and the scores reflected the lack of numbers.  It was rumoured that our captain had nicked half the membership to support an alien golf society (perhaps all will be revealed next week).

John Sidey and Tony Pratt shared the honours with 33 points each together with front & back nines respectively.

Scores were:

Tony Pratt -33,  John Sidey -33,  John Newbury -32,  Edwin Langdale -31,  Ces Dowson -30,  Jim McGivern -25,  Dick Turpin -19,         Vic Layton -19

DEREK PARTRIDGE STRIKES AGAIN WHILE EDWIN MAKES THE NEWS FOR THE WRONG REASONS

Results for Friday 18th April 2008

With the weather and course improving all the time, scores were expected to improve and, as if to prove the point, Edwin Langdale started the morning with three points at each of the first three holes.  Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on you point of view) it couldn’t last and his brilliant start was matched with an ignominious run of four blobs over the next four holes - we won’t dwell on it!  For interest’s sake Edwin’s inglorious card can be seen in the “News” Section.

The day was won by Derek Partridge with 35 (20 & 15) a score, which also secured the Front Nine.  Ted Lewis won the Back Nine with 21.

Eleven payers tuned out (accidental typo, should read:) Eleven players turned out!

Scores were:

Derek Partridge -35,  Ted Lewis -34,  John Wioodward –32,  Tony Pratt –31,  John Williams -29,  Jim McGivern –27,  Don Beere -27,  John Sidey -26,  Dick Turpin –24,  John Newbury –24,  Edwin Langdale –22
